Every great scorerelies on collaboration

Every project requires something different. Sometimes that’s developing ideas at the piano. Sometimes it’s preparing hundreds of pages of music for the scoring stage. Sometimes it’s leading a recording session under intense time pressure. My role is to become the part of the creative team that’s needed most, bringing clarity, experience and musical judgement wherever they’re required.

From sketch to score

Every score begins as an idea.

No matter if that’s a piano sketch, a MIDI mock-up, or simply a conversation, my focus is to develop that idea into music that’s expressive, practical and ready for the next stage of the process.

From refining orchestration and shaping arrangements to building detailed mock-ups, the objective remains the same: preserving the composer’s voice while giving the music every opportunity to succeed.

Preparing the music

Preparing the music for a recording session involves far more than producing printed parts.

It means anticipating problems before they reach the room, creating material that musicians can trust, and making sure the creative team can focus on performance rather than problem-solving.

When preparation is done well, the recording session becomes calmer, faster and more musical.

Recording sessions

Once musicians are in the room, preparation becomes leadership.

My role is to keep the session moving - making musical decisions in real time, answering questions, refining details and resolving unexpected challenges as they arise.

Working directly with the composer while coordinating with engineers, technicians, contractors and music editors, I help lead the musical workflow so the session remains focused, efficient and creatively uncompromised.

Beyond the orchestra

Film scoring rarely ends when the orchestra leaves the room.

Additional arranging, vocal recording, programming, editing, production and creative problem-solving often become part of the process, especially as schedules tighten and ideas continue to evolve.

Having worked across these disciplines throughout my career, I move between them naturally, remaining part of the creative conversation wherever I’m most valuable.

If you’d like to explore a project together, I’d love to hear from you.
